The Florida Legislature adopted, and the governor signed into law, effective July 1, 2021, an amendment to F.S. 162.21 and F.S. 162.0415, that prohibits a code inspector from initiating an investigation of a potential violation by way of an anonymous complaint. To investigate, complainant must have provided the complainant's name and address with the complaint to the "governing body" before an investigation occurs.
