Dear Dania Beach Customer:
The City of Dania Beach Public Services Department will begin its Annual Water Distribution Flushing Program on Sunday May 24, 2020. Flushing will continue across the City through Sunday June 14, 2020.
The Annual Water Distribution Flushing Program is used to help rid the water distribution pipelines of any accumulated sediments. The hydrant flushing may temporarily cause cloudy or discolored water, which should settle and clear in a few hours after flushing. The cloudiness is due to the sediments in the pipelines and it is not harmful or hazardous.
Typically flushing will take place at any time during the day/evening hours. Customers and residents may see fire hydrants running in their neighborhoods, which is part of this annual maintenance process. During the distribution flushing period, the Water Treatment Plant will temporarily change its method of disinfection from chloramines to free chlorination. Residents may notice a change in the look and/or taste of the water during this time.
PLEASE NOTE: Owners and managers of businesses with fish and shellfish holding tanks and users of kidney dialysis machines are advised that regular methods for testing and removing chloramines will not be effective during the flushing period. It will be necessary to test and adjust for free chlorine.
The City of Dania Beach maintains the highest standard to ensure that clean, high quality drinking water is delivered to our neighbors. The City’s water meets all Federal, State and Local primary drinking water standards. Should you have further questions please call the Water Treatment Plant at 954-924-3747. Ask for Nathan Costa, Chief Water Plant Operator.
