Betty Davis is the Chief Meteorologist for WPLG-TV, Local 10. She provides weather forecasts for South Florida, Monday-Friday, during the 4pm-6pm and 11pm newscasts.
Her career as a Broadcast Meteorologist spans more than 15 years. Betty spent nearly five years on the national scene working as an On-Camera Meteorologist for The Weather Channel. She has worked in several television markets, including Atlanta, Raleigh/Durham, NC, Charleston, SC, and Macon, GA. From tornado outbreaks and ice storms to blizzards and land-falling hurricanes, she has covered all kinds of weather!
Betty holds the CBM (Certified Broadcast Meteorologist) seal from the American Meteorological Society-- it is considered the gold standard of accreditation in the field of Broadcast Meteorology. Also, she holds the seal of approval from the National Weather Association. Betty holds a B.S. in Geosciences from Mississippi State University, with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology. Also, Betty graduated magna cum laude from Atlanta's Spelman College with a B.A. in English.
Betty visits South Florida schools throughout the year, sharing her passion for weather. She mentors college students striving for careers in Meteorology and Broadcasting.
When Betty is not forecasting the weather, you might find her running around South Florida trying to keep up with her husband and their 2 sons.
