This project is part of the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (MPO)* Complete Streets Initiative aimed at improving bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in Broward. The Broward MPO is working in conjunction with the City of Dania Beach, City Hollywood, and Broward County on this project. The scope of the project consists of adding bicycle lanes and sidewalks to both sides of SW 40th Avenue. Additional improvements include incidental milling and resurfacing for the purpose of pavement markings.
  • Installation of new bike lanes and additional sidewalks on both sides of SW 40th Avenue
  • New asphalt pavement surface to accommodate proposed bicycle lanes

Agencies involved:

  • SW 40th Avenue corridor is owned by three agencies: City of Dania Beach, City of Hollywood, and Broward County
  • Funding Agency: Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)* 
  • Construction Agency: Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
*The Broward MPO is a federally-mandated agency that is responsible for making policy on local transportation issues and deciding how to spend federal money on transportation projects within Broward County.
