LEED Gold Water Treatment Plant
The Dania Beach Nanofiltration Water Treatment Plant is the first LEED Gold Certified Water Plant in the world. Dania Beach has earned its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the US Green Building Council (the nation’s lead governing body on sustainable design) in 2012.

The City of Dania Beach provides water to over 30,000 residents and visitors each year. The quality of Dania Beach’s drinking water has earned the City numerous honors:
- Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) Engineering Excellence 2012 Grand Award
- FICE’s Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) recognized Dania Beach for innovative projects and studies.
- Florida Design-Build Honor Award in the Water/Wastewater Category / Award presented to projects that demonstrate successful application of design-build best practices as defined by the DBIA Design-Build Manual of Practice
The Treatment Plant uses state-of-the-art technology to treat, distribute and then dispose of millions of gallons of effluent each day. The Water Treatment Plant is continuously working to ensure that the quality of Dania Beach’s water meets environmental and governmental standardization as required by law. To support the State licensing requirements, routine water collection samples are continuously gathered at the Water Treatment Plant.
The Dania Beach Water Treatment Plant has been nominated an American Water Landmark by the AWWA Water Landmarks Award Committee. Dania Beach has an outstanding team of professionals at Public Services who made this possible by contributing to this prestigious designation in our beautiful City.
