The Dania Beach Fleet Maintenance serves the community by furnishing functional, reliable, and economical vehicles and fleet-related equipment necessary for the conduct of the City’s operations.

The Fleet Maintenance supports the operations of the City by providing high quality and cost effective fleet services. Assets managed by the division include about 90 vehicles and pieces of heavy equipment consisting of automobiles, pickup trucks, vacuum trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, loaders, crane trucks, generators, lawn equipment and pumps.

The Division provides mechanical repairs, hydraulic repairs, preventive maintenance, lubrication and road call services to the City fleet. The Fleet Maintenance also provides operational support for preparing new equipment and vehicle specifications and replacement schedules. This includes coordinating vehicle purchases, assignments, change outs and disposal of retired assets. Equipment rentals are also coordinated through this Division.

Fleet Maintenance recommends and furnishes fuel efficient, functional, reliable and economical vehicles and equipment necessary to conduct City operations. Fleet Maintenance oversees the operation of a City fuel site at the Public Services facility for refueling City vehicles and equipment.

Reducing Fossil Fuel

Reviewing the type and size of all vehicle and equipment to have the most efficient vehicles that meet our needs.
  • We perform a projected fuel consumption analysis where we compare the existing unit against the proposed replacement vehicle to maximize efficiency.
  • We have a vehicle idling policy in place.

Cemetery Burial / Grave Liners

Fleet Maintenance builds heavy metal liners for cemeteries to avoid ground caving at burials. The liner is placed in the ground before burial to facilitate the lowering of the casket into the ground.
The purpose of a burial or grave liner is to prevent the ground from caving in. The grave liner is made of four heavy metal sides that satisfy cemetery requirements to warranty protective strength.
